NASCAR starting for Texas: Byron Second, Larson Fourth in the Cup series Qualifying for the Sunday race

Fort Worth, Texas – With regard to 1.5 mile routes, only a few are harder than Texas Motor Speedway.

With its two corners, which were built differently than one another, the field of the Nascar Cup series in the Lone Star State is a unique challenge.

So solid starting places are a bonus. And they were on the line on Saturday.

Both William Byron and Kyle Larson will start for Hendrick Motorsports in the top 5. Byron turned the second best round of the session at 28.189 seconds, while Larson was fourth best. Alex Bowman has just missed a top 10 place and will take off the 11th place after a round of 28,284. Chase Elliott rounded off the group and begins the 29th place.

“I had the feeling that I hit one and two pretty well. I was just right on the edge when I was two tight and then (turning) three and four open,” said Byron. “Just appreciate all the boys on the 24th. You did a great job today. We were good in the miles and a half miles and of course only tried to choose our racing balance and feel very close.”

Hendrick Motorsports is the standard carrier in most statistical categories in the quad -oval, which leads in Siegen (12), Poland (eight), top -fives (45), TOP 10S (80) and LAP -LED (3,150). The team teamed up to win three of the last four races in Texas, with Larson winning Byron in 2023 and Elliott last year 2021. Larson also went to the Victory Lane in the All-Star race on the Texas Motor Speedway in 2021.

The Saturday race on the Texas Motor Speedway was to be the second start of the season in No. 17 Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet at 2 p.m. Corey Day on Nascar Xfinity Race and rolled the 33rd place after the qualifying was scrapped on Friday afternoon due to rain. Larson will fill out for the injured Connor Zilisch in No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet.
