Baltimore Orioles Top Prospect Debut seems to be right after the last update

Baltimore Orioles Top Prospect Coby Mayo reports back to Baltimore and could soon be called to the active squad.

According to Masns, Mayo’s absence from the starting line-up for Triple-A Norfolk on Satuday was due to the fact that he was expected in Maryland.

The news comes from the late scratch of Ramón Urias from the Orioles line -up on Friday evening.

If Urias is forced to miss a considerable time, he could be put on the injured list, and Mayo would be the logical decision to replace it on the 26-man-active roster from Baltimore.

Mayo is classified by MLB pipeline as number 2 in the Orioles system and in the entire league as number 2.

The 23-year-old infield gave his MLB debut in 2024 and produced a slash line of 0.098/.196/.098 over a hard 17-game stint.

Mayo appeared in spring training in 2025, hoping to secure a place in the team’s opening day, but he was sent to the Minor League Camp after not being hot on the plate in 17 games and reached .190/.239/.262.

“It is definitely difficult,” Mayo said to MLB.com Beat Reporter Jake Rill in a moment of frustration at that time. “It is obviously shit because you feel like you were moving everything you need. And sometimes it doesn’t feel like it is enough.”

Mayo later made it clear that in his comments he had no bad intentions to the orioles brass, and he had to work in the small leagues and found a rhythm on his plate.

If he was called, Mayo would complete this stay in Norfolk with an OPS of 0.892.
