After the power failure on Monday in Madrid, there are still some games in the fourth round that should be played at the quarter -finals on Wednesday. It is Frances Tiafoe against Matteo Arnaldi and Grigor Dimitrov against Gabriel Diallo.

Tiafoe and Arnaldi will compete against each other in their career for the second time when they collide on Wednesday during the fourth round with the Mutua Madrid Open. Her only previous meeting took place in the first round 2024 Wimbledon and did not disappoint, and Tiafoe came back from two sets to overcome 6-7 (5), 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3.

The remaining also promises to be fun. None of people are in the middle of a spectacular season, but both seem to turn things on sound. Tiafoe was second in Houston (lost to Jenson Brooksby) and so far in Madrid Luciano Darderi and Alexandre Müller have defeated sentences. Arnaldi annoyed Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4 in addition to the victories over Borna Coric and Damir Dzumhur. Although both boys are all-court players, Clay gives the Italian his best chance in this matchup, and it would not be a surprise that he benefits against an opponent who stays well his best level.

Diallo has initiated a second lease about life at Madrid Masters to one of his young career’s best tournaments. The 23-year-old Canadian fell on Coric in the last qualification round, but he came into the main release when Yoshihito Nishioka withdrew. After Diallo Zizou Berg rejected, he faced a happy loser instead of Carlos Alcaraz and got the best of Kamil Majchrzak 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. The former outstanding university of Kentucky overcame Cameron Norrie 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday. Diallo now has nine main tour players in 2025, but he is only 15-12 lifetime on sound.

Next for World No. 78 on Wednesday is a first competition against Dimitrov, which was in good shape in 2025. The 33-year-old Bulgarier in Brisbane and Miami achieved a semi-finals in Brisbane and Miami between all possible physical problems to take part in Monte-Carlo with a quarter-finals. He seems to be 100 percent in Madrid, with straight victories at the expense of Nicolas Jarry and Jake Fearnley. Apart from another unforeseen injury, Dimitrov should have too much experience and general sound court guile for an opponent who is not used to this type of stage.
