But why is a random day in April the “grass vacation”? The marijuana industry has exploited the day to cross additional offers, and some non-marijuana chains are in harmony and offer specialties for those who may be in a particularly pinching mood.

Here is what you should know about the unofficial vacation.

4/20 or 420 refers to April 20, the day that has become the unofficial marijuana holiday for consumers.

Why is April 20th the unofficial marijuana vacation?

The story behind how 4/20 became unofficial marijuana vacation is unclear, but there are some popular theories.

Some believe that the holiday is representative of “420”, a radio code used for the police to display marijuana. Others combine the “public holiday” to Bob Dylans song “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” with his refrain “Everyone has to be stoned” and the product of multiplying 12 x 35 is according to PBS 420.

The most likely story, however, is one that concentrates in a group of friends of the California High School in the 1970s.

According to PBS, a brother of one of these friends allegedly grown marijuana in the forests near the school and was paranoid about being caught. He drew a map of the search for the pot and gave it to the friendship group for harvesting.

One day in the autumn semester of 1971, exactly at 4:20 p.m., the friends smoked a joint and made their way into the forest to look for the stock. Although they could never find it, their code “420” noticed when the friendship group hung a fair amount around the Grateful Dead according to PBS.

No, 4/20 has nothing to do with Bob Marley
