Rogers won the nomination of the GOP Senate from 2024 in Michigan, but lost just against Rep. Elissa Slotkin, the candidates of the Democrats, in the elections last November in the race for the successor of the long -term democratic senator Debbie Stabenow, who retired. Slotkin, who had surpassed Rogers considerably, pushed him by around 19,000 votes or a third percentage point.

In addition to Dixon, other Republicans who consider a Senate run are rep. John James, who is in his second term in the house and was the GOP Senate candidate in Michigan in 2018 and 2020 -and the long -time MP Bill Huizenga.

Among the Democrats, Senator Mallory McMorrov, the majority of the whip in Lansing, will probably start a democratic campaign. McMorrow attracted national attention in 2022 after he had kept a floor speech in the Senate in Michigan, which was seen as a model for combating GOP attacks.
