As someone who grew up with the remastered version and loved the Oblivion, I was largely disappointed. Nevertheless, I remain very optimistic about Skyblivion. Here are some reasons why:

After I trained as an animator for 5 years and had gained a lot of experience with unreal engine on the way, it is clear to me that abbreviations have been taken and that the engine was done by busy work during a broad sharing of remastered.

Sure, it looks more realistic and has “better graphics”, but the soul and atmosphere of the original game was largely removed thanks to excessive dependence on the standard functions of UE5.

A main example is the use of the nanite lighting system, which is impressive in 2022, but is practically an industrial standard.

Although Skyblivion is somewhat limited in terms of its graphic loyalty and does not have the same particle effects or dynamic lighting that are possible in UE5 alone, the additional work that brings this with it gives developers an opportunity to add subtle atmospheric details when textures are “baked” in manually.

Forgotten was never famous for his particularly intelligent AI, and the remaster from 2025 is no different. I don’t necessarily say that this is a bad thing. After all, Oblivion has led “unique” AI over the years to many funny and memorial moments.

An area in which experienced Skyrim players will experience a noticeable difference is the stealth mechanics of the game.

Similar to the original forgetting, the Stealth -Ki is still significantly inferior to the Skyrims, although enemies sometimes do not even react to arrows that were fired directly in front of them or not to see them in the immediate vicinity.

Fortunately, Skyrim’s improved AI will be the standard in Skyblivion that should make the stealth gameplay easier and more effective.

This cannot be said that the Skyblivion AI will definitely be perfect, but there are some big differences in the behavior of Oblivion -NPCs and their situational awareness compared to those in Skyrim. It is surprising that this has no longer made improvements for the Oblivion Remaster, although of course it still has time that it is patched.

One thing that has undoubtedly recognized in Oblivion Remastered players is the lack of any combat animations.

While the fight is certainly improved compared to the game of 2006, the detection of the hits and the enemy reactions are more noticeably more effective, it is still not entirely with Skyrim in many ways.

It seems to be a fairly simple function, but it was overlooked in the Oblivion Remaster. Skyblivion should not have such problems, which will enable a much greater variety of character busts and combat styles for players in the game.

If there is an area in which the Oblivion Remaster feels particularly weak compared to Skyblivion, it is in UI design.

While new players or those who come directly from Skyrim are no difference, those of us who have played the original forgetting will notice that modern UI design is very simple and lack the character and charm of the original.

Fortunately, Skyblivion has retained the style of the original UI design, but added subtle improvements that feel a little more modern and user-friendly.

The user interface in particular can be a problem for PC players, since their size and scaling cannot be adjusted. With Skyblivion, it shouldn’t have such a problem that the inventory overhaul is based on the popular Skyui mod.

Dungeon variety

A criticism that even received the original forgetting was the lack of dungeon variety. Sure, dungeons may have been on the menu at various places, but overall many of them felt very similar and, as a result, were bored pretty quickly.

The Skyblivion modder have led to ensuring that Dungeon spaces feel urgent and different. This is done by adding icy areas in which the dungeon is located in colder regions, or sand in the warmer areas, etc. etc.

It is astonishing that the Oblivion -Remaster did not take this into account, since the same problem is now felt by modern players, exploring the Aleid ruins.

It may not appear a big deal, but the dungeons in Skyblivion will probably feel much more diverse and more urgently due to their environmental details.
